Aprendiendo Unidos Arequipa, or Learning United Arequipa project, was implemented by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in the city of Arequipa in Peru with the aim of empowering Venezuelan migrant and refugee children and youth ages 6 to 17 to strengthen their digital and socioemotional skills that will enable them to enter the formal education system in Peru. The project, which ran from November 2021 to January 2022, engaged stakeholders from UNESCO, UNHCR, parents, tutors, and students through a non-formal education project in virtual modality, training, mentoring, active communication, coordination, and support activities.

Trayectorias Educativas Completas, or Complete Educational Trajectories project, was implemented by United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Development and Infancy Corporation (CID by its Spanish acronym, Corporación Infancia y Desarrollo) in three departments across five municipalities along the Colombian border with the aim of improving the preschool to primary school transitions of students ages 5-6, with a particular focus on migrant students. The project, which ran from May to December 2021, engaged stakeholders from the National Ministry of Education (MEN by its Spanish acronym, Ministerio de Educación Nacional) level down to teachers, parents, and students, through workshops, training, coordination, and support activities.

Aulas Digitales or the Digital Classrooms project, was implemented by Save the Children in three departments along the Colombian border with the aim of developing socioemotional and problem solving skills for migrant and crisis-affected children ages 8 to 15. The project ran from 2021 to 2022 and engaged a range of stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education, the private sector, parents, and students. It involved in-person and virtual activities that promoted digital skills, socioemotional learning, and problem solving through programming, robotics, mobile apps, and video games

The Regional Education Group for Latin America and the Caribbean has been established since 2011 within the framework of REDLAC to support the Ministries of Education and the coordination mechanisms for emergency response in the education sector (including risk management, disasters and migration), and supports its actions on the basis of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Reduction (SFDRR), the Global Initiative for all children, adolescents and young people in the region.

Latin American Laboratory for Evaluation of the Quality of Education - LLECE

The Laboratory has been working for more than 25 years with the majority of Latin American countries in evaluations that measure the learning achievement of primary school students. His experience in the implementation of his studies allows the generation of relevant information on learning achievement and other educational indicators, which account for various aspects related to the quality of education in a comprehensive sense and respond to the challenges of the 2030 Education Agenda. This is how the Laboratory is an instance to evaluate, exchange, test, improve, innovate and make regional synergy towards the improvement of learning.
